Here is the new media center and tv. Yes, that is Strawberry Shortcake. My favorite show.

This next one is of the kitchen with the hood installed. I really like the hood. It’s kind of big, but it’s really cool.

The last one is pretty weird. The construction workers were tearing down a wall to build the laundry room and they found an old rifle. It’s a bit freaky and I hope it’s now from a mafia hit or something. Here is a picture of it.

I can’t wait to move.

The first picture below is of the front of the house. Look at the gap between the garage and house. That won’t be there anymore after next week. That is where the laundry room is being built so that it isn’t in the kitchen anymore. This is the part I am most nervous about.

The next picture below is of the kitchen.  There used to be the laundry on the left where you see the hot water heater. That will move too soon. The wall in the middle is the base for the new island that will have the range built into it. There will be an island hood that drops down above it. The wood colored pillars will be painted white. You can see some of the wains-coating on the far far left.

This last picture is of the family room. It originally had this horrible fake wood siding covering every portion of every wall. Now we have some wains-coating. Bea doesn’t know about that yet, but I know she will be very excited. There is also crown moulding in here too.

I can’t wait for it to be done!!!!

We got the keys to our new house last night at about 5:45pm. We were stressing again that it wasn’t going to work out until Monday, but it was recorded by the county after 5pm on Friday and we got the keys. So we went and got some Chik-Fil-A and took it to the new house and had a picnic on the floor. The contractor starts on Monday morning.
Here is the list of work we are having done:
New tile in kitchen. New carpet in family room. The rest of the house has original hardwood floors.
All new interior doors with new casings.
Scrape cottage ceilings and texture.
All new baseboard.
All new interior paint.
Complete kitchen remodel – all new cabinets, new sink, new appliances, can lighting, granite countertops, removal of some ugly pillars in kitchen area, etc.
Moving the laundry out of kitchen area into a laundry room we are building.
Tankless water heater.

That’s the stuff this contractor is doing. We are going to fix up the bathrooms and garage ourselves. We need to get a chimney sweep – which just sounds cool. We also hope to get our closets done by one of those cool closet companies and we might have them do a media center, but we might not be able to afford all of this.

I’m super excited and can’t wait to move in. We probably won’t move in until March 24. Bea is off school that week so it will be a good time. The kitchen probably won’t be done, but the contractor is going to get the other stuff done so that we can move in first.

We found a contractor that is going to do our kitchen and actually all the house stuff yesterday. He was based on a recommendation from a friend and we really liked talking with him yesterday. He is very professional and reasonably priced. I will recommend him later based on actual work. This picture isn’t our kitchen but we are doing white cabinets with dark granite countertops.

Here are some pics. The kitchen has great potential but definitely needs a bit of a remodel which we hope to do.

I thought today about how this means a couple things other than getting a new home. It also means we will get Moses back soon and means we don’t have to have upstairs neighbors waking us up. I will never have upstairs neighbors again as long as I live.
